His kindness and willingness to protect innocent people ultimately bring him into conflict with the organization he once served.

Saul's story becomes closely connected to Nico Robin, a young girl growing up on the island of Ohara. Known for its brilliant archaeologists and scholars, Ohara is home to researchers studying the mysterious Poneglyphs and the forbidden history of the Void Century. As Marine warships surround Ohara and the island faces destruction, Saul chooses to protect Robin rather than obey the orders of the organization he once served.

Saul's determination to save Robin becomes one of the most emotional moments in the series. Despite facing overwhelming danger, he helps her escape and encourages her to continue living. His final words to Robin emphasize that nobody is born into the world to be completely alone and that she will eventually find people who truly care about her.

Saul's kindness leaves a lasting impact on Robin, shaping her outlook on friendship, trust, and belonging. Although she spends years being pursued by the World Government and struggling to survive, the hope Saul gives her remains an important part of her character.
